Salary Negotiation Blog

The first thing I learned from reading the salary negotiation PDF is the importance of researching the salary before the interview, so you know the range and average salary for the job. Also, I have learned that you do not want to talk about salary until you are already offered the position, if possible. Also, you should never accept an offer on the spot; you should always ask for some time to review everything. When you are ready to sign a new offer, it is very important to make sure everything in your offer is in writing so they can not go back on any part of the deal. Ask for what you think is fair is a very big part of what I got from reading this PDF, which means if you think you should have it, ask for it, but at the same time, do not try to ask for something that is completely unreasonable. Showing the research that you did into the salary to show whoever offered you the job the average salary for your job in the area is also very important because it will stop someone from trying to lowball you for the job. There are also things that you can negotiate for that are not related to salary. It is also important that you look at the benefits that are non-salary related when you are negotiating as well. There can be such things as paid vacation days, a signing bonus, etc. These things can be very good to have and can also be just as important as having a good salary for the job you are doing. Over there are many things that I learned about being able to negotiate your salary better from reading this PDF, and I think that it will be able to help me avoid a bad deal in the future.
